Under the direction of a Lead Information Security Analyst, the position will be a member of security team providing information security services to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Thruway Authority’s information and systems.

This position will be a team member providing activities to support the management and resolution of security threats to Thruway Authority’s information involving threat detection, threat intelligence assessment, vulnerability monitoring and response to security events and intrusions affecting information assets.

Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Participate in the continuous monitoring and protection of technology resources and determine events that require investigation and response.
• Monitor the threat landscape for changes impacting vulnerabilities and assess the risk to Thruway Authority’s information systems.
• Participate in information security risk analysis and risk management processes.
• Perform security events analysis and prioritize security events.
• Assist with the implementation of information security and compliance programs.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS FOR CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:

Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service allocated to a Grade 16 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 and/or Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.

• NY HELPS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science;

OR a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;

OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology;

OR two years of professional experience in information technology.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Our telecommuting program offers up to 20% (two days per pay period) upon completion of at least three months of satisfactory performance. Additional policy guidelines and work hours may be discussed during the interview.

Additional Pay Information

The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:

Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $64,427 up to Job Rate $91,409.

Recruitment & Retention Pay: $7,000.
